Welcome to “Mighty Mo,” more formally known as J4990 / Journalism & Democracy ~ a senior capstone class at the Missouri School of Journalism.

This site will serve as the virtual homeroom for a team of young journalists as they venture into their community with the goal of rediscovering and re-imagining journalism as a tool of public service.  They will link journalistic principle and practice through real-world projects that attempt to address ~ and perhaps help solve ~ real-world issues.  They will practice professional journalism with their hearts as well as their minds, and with the public as fully involved partners.

Those who enter here believe in the power, imperative and responsibility of journalism, and of its role in an “of, by and for” the people democracy.

This homeroom is hosted by Jacqui Banaszynski and Tom Warhover ~ colleagues at the MIssouri School of Journalism.  It, like the course, is experimental in nature ~ willing to take risks, try new things, test the limits of old boundaries and create new partnerships.  It also, in keeping with the belief that journalism is a public trust, will be open to public discovery and comment.
